The December Collection for the Great Notts Toy Appeal was wonderfully supported. Thank you to everyone who donated. The gifted toys were delivered to St John’s church in Bilborough for distribution. Bev Lockyer, from the appeal, sent a thank you to Holy Trinity saying “This year over 70 people from our community partners used our service to provide gifts for the disadvantaged children they support. We were able to supply gifts for over 2,200 children to open on Christmas Day”.
The Carol Service was once again a Full House. A big thank you to everyone that helped make it such a success and especially to the choir, readers and children that supported the service. It was a lovely start to the Christmas week.
The Strawberry Fair will this year be on Saturday 13th June. Save the date! For newcomers to the village this is held on alternate years and is a traditional village fete with stalls and entertainment. Held at the Village Hall and the green behind, you can enjoy a cream tea (with strawberries of course) or you may prefer a beer or a pimms or all that is on offer. Wander the stalls, play the games and have a go at the raffle. There will be prizes! We are always looking for new ideas and new helpers and it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours. Please contact any of the people below for more information.
Thursday Coffee Club will start again on February 5th. Usually held the first Thursday of the month from 10.30 -12.00 in the Village Hall. Do come if you have a free morning, the cakes are delicious and the company good! All ages are welcome.
Southwell Minster Choir. Back in October we were lucky enough to host members of the Minster Choir in Wysall. The choir sang traditional Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer, a service that has been used for centuries. It was a privilege to hear the hymns, chants and plainsong sung so beautifully. The choir are visiting rural churches in the Diocese every few months. They enjoyed their visit to Wysall and the boys especially appreciated the tea!
